Becoming an Officer

If you are interested in becoming an officer of the Dancing Illini, please contact us at dancing@illinois.edu. In general, the officers are elected for a period of one year each spring, they make it happen. If you want to help out, we often have openings. The available positions are listed below. There are several benefits for becoming an officer of the Dancing Illini,

    1. Take classes for free
    2. Get a chance to learn to organize classes and possibly instruct classes
    3. Get to know other dance groups and communities in and around Urbana-Champaign
    4. Get a free Dancing Illini polo shirt
    5. Meet new people and make some lasting friendships.

Spring 2017 Elections

We’ve agreed on the following dates for the elections:
3/11 – 4/2: Sign-ups for officer positions. Please email dancing@illinois.edu with subject line “Officer Application 2017: Your name” and the following information.

  1. Your name
  2. Position you are running for
  3. A picture of yourself
  4. A quick blurb about why you want this position and tell us if you have any prior relevant experience that will help this position. It’s also fine if you don’t have experience

4/3 – 4/6: Voting Period
4/9: New Officers Announced
4/13: Change-over starts

To sign up to be on the ballot, you’ll have to provide a photo and a short blurb on why you want to be in that position. Positions that will require an illinois.edu email will be President, Treasurer, and Webmaster.
