The 8th annual CSL student conference will be held on January 31 and February 1, 2013, in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and will feature talks and posters in the following areas:
– Reliable and High Performance Computing
– Decision and Control
– Circuits
– Computational and Physical Electronics
– Thin Film Electronics
– Signal, Image and Speech Processing
– Remote Sensing and Space Sciences
– Communications

We have 4 invited speakers and one panel discussion in the conference. In addition, we expect 12-15 talks and 20 posters to be given by students. We welcome students from universities outside UIUC to present their work. If you are interested in giving a talk or poster, please send an email to Ji ( or Jiaming ( by January 1st, 2013 with the following information:

• Your brief bio and contact information

If you register for a talk:
• Title and abstract of your talk
• Your preference among giving a survey talk, tutorial talk or a talk on some open problems in your area (all talks must be of less than 30 mins).

If you register for a poster:
• Title and abstract of your poster

This is a good opportunity for students to gain experience in presenting their work.
— Every speaker will be given 25 mins for his or her presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A. We are mainly looking for survey talks, tutorial talks, talks on open problems in the areas mentioned above.
— We would also like to have a talk or two where you can talk about your tech-based startup, the hurdles you crossed and the outcome, and get early feedback from the audience on your products/services.
— We encourage students to present interesting ideas, which could be simple for an expert in their domain, and yet excite students working in other fields. Students working on interdisciplinary areas are highly encouraged to talk about their research.
— If a student needs more than 30 minutes, then he/she can contact us by email. We will try to accommodate such students in the schedule.
— We expect the students who are presenting to practice the talk beforehand and send the slides by January 20th, 2013. We will put up the slides on the website before the conference.
— Students can print posters by themselves, or we can print posters for them. We expect the students who are presenting posters to send us electronic versions of their posters by January 15th, 2013. We will put up the posters on the website before the conference.

We welcome all students to present their work if they are relevant to the topics listed above.

Partial funding is available for speakers and poster presenters.

We look forward to hearing from you!
