Don’t miss the GIS Fair 2010

The University’s 2nd Annual GIS Fair will take place Nov. 19 and includes presentations throughout the morning and afternoon, the awarding of prizes for this year’s GeoChallenge competition, and  exhibits.

Todd Presner, founder of Hypercities, will deliver this year’s keynote. Presner — a professor of Germanic Languages, Comparative Literature, and Jewish Studies at the
University of California Los Angeles — will discuss “HyperCities: Using Social Media and GIS to Map Time Layers in Los Angeles, Berlin, Tehran, and Rome.”

The GeoChallenge competition, which is open to all students and includes grand prizes of  an iPod Touch (4g) for each team member and a $100 gift certificate to the Illini Union Bookstore, concludes Nov. 17.
