Repertoire
Conductors will choose one selection from each of the following categories, in addition to bringing one selection of their own choosing:

  • Renaissance: Byrd – Mass for Three Voices
    • Gloria m. 1-43
    • Gloria m. 44-end
    • Sanctus
    • Agnus Dei
  • Classical: Haydn – Nelsonmesse (soloists will be available)
    • Kyrie
    • Gloria (first section, stop at Qui Tollis)
    • Benedictus
    • Agnus Dei
  • Romantic:
    • Brahms – Der Abend, Op. 64 no. 2
    • Brahms – Spätherbst, Op. 92 no. 2
    • Mendelssohn – Blessed are the men who fear him, No. 9 from Elijah
  • 20th Century:
    • Barber – Sure on this shining night (G. Schirmer HL.50308930)
    • Britten – The Evening Primrose (Boosey & Hawkes HL.48008905)
    • Fine – The Hour-glass, No. 6 from the set (Boosey & Hawkes HL.48001075)

Participants must purchase the scores for the 20th century selections. Public domain scores for the other pieces may be used and can be found here. If you’d like to purchase scores, we recommend the Phillip Brett Stainer & Bell edition of the Byrd and the Bärenreiter edition of the Haydn.

Topics for the seminar sessions will include rehearsal techniques, working with instruments, and preparing choral-orchestral works.

Conductor slots are limited and each conductor-participant will have at least 90 minutes of podium time through the week. 

A digital video camera will be available for recording yourself. Please bring your own regular size SD card with sufficient capacity and speed rating.
