Larissa Chasanov

profile-256x300Larisa Chasanov is a lecturer, voice coach, pianist and accompanist. Her area of expertise is in Russian vocal music, diction, style, interpretation, and the development of repertoire.

Ms. Chasanov is a native of Russia. She studied piano at the Belorussian State Conservatory. She has been a lecturer at the Polish Academy of Music, and prior to that served on the faculty of the Grodno State University in Belarus. Ms. Chasanov was also a coaching accompanist at the International Summer Festival in Duszniki Zdroi in Poland.

She has appeared as an accompanist and soloist throughout the United States, Denmark, Poland, and the Republics of the former Soviet Union. She has made her appearance on the Polish Radio and Television while recording series of recitals with British violinist, professor of the Royal Academy of Music, Clarence Mayerscough.

In 2001, she moved to Champaign where she was an accompanist for the Champaign Oratorio Society, University of Illinois Opera Studio, Illinois Summer Youth Music, NATS competition, numerous recitals, and master classes. She accompanies the vocal students of Cynthia Haymon, Jerold Siena, Nathan Gunn, and Sylvia Stone in their studios at University of Illinois and is often called upon to coach the students and professional singers in Russian diction and vocal repertoire.
