Jancie Philippus

Jancie is an ABD doctoral student in horn performance and is currently researching recent works for horn by Portuguese composers. An active freelance musician, she serves as a hornist with the Sinfonia da Camera and the Champaign-Urbana and Danville Symphony Orchestras. With a passion for teaching music to students of all ages, Jancie serves on the faculty of the Illinois Summer Youth Music Program and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and maintains a private studio of horn students in Champaign. In January 2015, Jancie traveled to Porto, Portugal to interview and study with horn performers and composers for her research.
