Biography

Hadi Esfahani is Professor of Economics and Professor of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Previously, he worked for the World Bank as a visiting staff economist and a consultant. He also served as President for the Middle East Economic Association. Currently, Esfahani is Editor-in-Chief for the journal Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees at the Economic Research Forum and of the Board of Directors at the International Iranian Economic Association. Esfahani’s research focuses on theoretical and empirical issues concerning the political economy of development. He has published numerous articles on the role of politics and governance institutions in the formation and outcome of fiscal, trade, and regulatory policies.
