Welcome to the University of Illinois CEE 449 Travel Blog site.

Two groups of professors, teaching assistants (TAs), and undergraduate students enrolled in CEE 449 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Chamapign are traveling to East Africa in February 2015.    From February 6 to February 13, 2015 a team will be in Kenya, and the second team in Uganda from February 13 to February 22, 2015.  The travel teams will be learning the about the needs, available resources, and potential challenges of three rural communities in Kenya and South-Western Uganda.  Ultimately, the goal is to improve the access, for all community members, to safe water, proper sanitation, cleaner and more reliable energy, and provide food security.

As it is not possible to take the 36 person class to Africa, this site was created for the 12 traveling students (3 in Kenya and 9 in Uganda) to communicate with the home team members who remain in Urbana, IL during the trip.
