Spring 2018 EMT course applications available!

IEMS has developed an academically and physically challenging EMT course that stresses academic and clinical abilities, interpersonal skills, critical thinking processes, decision-making abilities and the capacity for quick and appropriate judgment. Our course will teach lifesaving skills and challenge students to shift from passive bystanders to active healthcare professionals.

Psychology Leaders

Psychology Student Leaders
Teamwork, Leadership, Service

The Department of Psychology is seeking motivated and energetic psychology majors to serve as Psychology Leaders for the 2017-2018 academic year. Undergraduates selected to participate in this program will work with the department in a variety of areas including fundraising, outreach, and philanthropy. This is a great way to gain marketable skills, get involved with the department and alumni advisory board, and give back to other students and the local community.

Eligibility requirements:
Declared psychology major: freshman, sophomore, junior, and seniors are eligible to participate in the program. Applicants must be available to participate in the program for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Membership responsibilities:
Psychology Leaders are expected to attend monthly meetings, participate in a required number of departmental and campus activities, and take part in both fall and spring service projects. Continued membership is contingent upon satisfactory performance.

To apply:
In 250 words or less explain why you want to be a Psychology Leader and describe the qualities and/or skills that you would bring to the group.

Include a resume that lists your college level leadership experience, volunteer work, extracurricular activities (including research, internships, service-learning, etc.). Freshman may include high school activities. In addition, include: UIN #, university email, phone number, and year in the program.

Add Deadline, Spring Break, Etc.

Just a reminder that today (Friday, March 18) is the add deadline for second 8-week courses.

I will be in the office Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday next week, so feel free to make an appointment. I’ve also opened up some times for the first week back (registration is right around the corner!).

If you’re planning on participating in the May graduation and haven’t yet done so, please register for the ceremony. If you will be completing all degree requirements this semester and have not applied to graduate, you should also contact your records officer.

Illinois in Washington

Spend fall interning and taking U of I classes in Washington, DC, with Illinois in Washington. The program is open to all majors, including Psychology students! Students will earn 12 credits of Illinois coursework during the fall semester. Courses include PS 491: Internship Seminar, PS 321: Principles of Public Policy, and PS 199: The Washington Experience.
