March 2015 Upgrade to Learn@Illinois

On Wednesday, March 25th at approximately 5:00AM, the Learn@Illinois service will be down for a planned upgrade. We anticipate the downtime to be no more than 2 hours (probably a lot less).

The upgrade includes the following:

  • Natural sorting of auto created groups – Currently, if more than 10 groups are auto created, the sort order past the first 9 groups become disordered. We have fixed this problem so that auto created groups are sorted in their natural order.
  • Creation of the UI Shift Dates tool – When courses are copied from one semester to the next, it can be time-consuming to change the due dates of all the assignments, quizzes, etc. We have created a tool that will shift all or some of the dates in a course based on a change in the due date of one assignment or a change in the course start date.
  • Reporting of students NOT in a group – We have found that in large courses with large numbers of groups, it can be daunting to determine which students are not in particular groups. We have modified the group overview report to allow instructors to see those students who are not in a set of groups.
  • Re-added duplicate button to Mass Action Block – During one of our previous upgrades, the duplicate button disappeared from the mass action block. We have added it back in.
  • We also upgraded some third party plugins to the latest versions and made some cosmetic changes and added a couple of features that will make administration of the service more efficient.
