Folder Module

The folder module enables a teacher to display a number of related files inside a single folder, reducing scrolling on the course page. A zipped folder may be uploaded and unzipped for display, or an empty folder created and files uploaded into it.

A folder may be used

  • For a series of files on one topic, for example a set of past examination papers in pdf format or a collection of image files for use in student projects
  • To provide a shared uploading space for teachers on the course page (keeping the folder hidden so that only teachers can see it)
  1. To add a folder module to your course, begin by clicking the “Turn editing on” button in the upper right of the page in the course you want to add the module to.
  2. Turn Editing On button

  3. Next, click the “Add an activity or resource” in the section you would like to add the folder module.
  4. Add activity or resource image

  7. This will take you to the “Adding a new folder” screen. Under the “General” section, you are required to name the folder, you can provide a description if desired, and also choose whether to display that description on the course page.
  8. The content section is where the content is added. There are various display options to choose in the display folder contents menu. Select either on a separate page or inline on a course page. You can also choose to show subfolders expanded or keep the default where they are not expanded. There are also two ways to add content, either by dragging and dropping the content of by clicking the Add icon in the upper left of the dialog box.
