Undergraduate Student Competition

Each semester, ACI hosts a student competition for undergraduates. It’s a good opportunity for young professionals to get their hands dirty and learn more about concrete and their own interests. In addition to being a good resume-builder, it’s a fun challenge that requires creativity, passion, and teamwork. We like to encourage the undergraduates to go the convention, and fully reimburse them for the trip.

This semester’s competition was on fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement. The team had to optimize the strength-to-cost ratio for a FRP-reinforced, meter-long beam. Check out their cool design below!
