Concrete: Increasing Performance Leads to Sustainability
Presented by: Sarah Kilroy, P.E.
S.T.A.T.E. Testing, LLC

Ms. Kilroy started her studies towards becoming a civil engineer at the University of Miami – Coral Gables but quickly realized The U of I was the best place to earn a degree in Civil Engineering. Eventually graduating from The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, College of Engineering in 2012, she is very proud to be an Illini. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree, she started at S.T.A.T.E. Testing, LLC; a materials engineering and testing firm based in East Dundee, IL (north-west of Chicago). She has worked with many different local agencies including The City of Chicago DOT and Illinois DOT but spent the majority of the last four years working directly for the IL Tollway Materials Department headed by Steve Gillen. Her main role with the Tollway has been to further develop and manage the Tollway’s Independent Assurance (IA) Program on the I-90 Jane Addams Memorial Tollway widening and reconstruction from 2013 through 2016. During this time, she has performed and managed a significant amount of non-destructive testing with MIT Scan technology. It is a passion of hers to speak out on the importance of dowel bar alignment in jointed plain concrete pavements. She has helped pilot the Tollway’s Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Performance Related Specification testing program in the field and through related training.

Anyone interested in concrete is invited! Dinner and beverages will be provided during the meeting. Please note that the dress code is business casual.

See you there!
